The second of two weeks on the road, the MBB team had a thrilling win at Radford, while the track teams competed at South Carolina in a midweek meet.
Martin started out the week with 24 points and 13 rebounds in an overtime victory at Radford, leading the team in both categories. In that game, he scored the final five points of regulation, including his first 3-pointer of the season, to tie the game and extend it into overtime. He followed that performance up with 11 points and six rebounds against High Point, shooting 4-6 from the field and 3-4 from the free throw line, giving him an 85 percent clip from the charity stripe.

January 24 – WBB @ Radford – L, 60-56
A Shay Jones 3-pointer with 0:23 left in the game cut the Radford lead to four, but CSU could not find another basket at the end of the game, falling on the road to one of the league-leaders. Lakeitha Alson had 13 points, while Jones finished with 11, including three triples in the game. With 10 points, Kelsey Wasmer hit the 1,000 point mark for her career at CSU.
January 25 – Tennis @ #10 Clemson – L, 4-0
The Bucs knew it would be a tough start to the season with a pair of nationally ranked opponents to start it off, the highest of which was #10 Clemson. The Tigers won the doubles point with 8-4, 8-6 and 8-0 scores, and then rolled in three singles matches, leaving the other three unfinished. Brooke Pletcher has played well in the early season as a member of the doubles team that fell 8-6, also playing the closest singles match falling 6-4 in the first set and leading 2-1 in the second before it was left unfinished.
January 26 – Track and Field @ Gamecock Open
It was a strange track, with three lanes and four 90-degree turns, and even though the times may not have been what CSU would normally expect, they still posted high finishes against members of the South Carolina, Benedict, and South Carolina State programs. Patria Norman had a trio of runner-up finishes, doing so in the 55m hurdles, the high jump and the shot put events. Tenasia White won the weight throw, Adrienne Cuff finished second in the 800m run, and Riyadh Smith claimed third in the 400m dash. For the men, Avery Coe won the 400m dash, while Zack Pociatek won the weight throw and Lavon Allen finished second in the 55m dash.
January 27 – MBB @ Radford – W,70-62 (OT)
Up big midway through the second half, Radford made a furious charge on their home court, taking a five-point lead with less than a minute to go. Kelvin Martin hit the first three of his season, then got fouled on his way to the basket, sinking both free throws to tie the game and send it into overtime. From there, the Bucs composed themselves and used a 9-1 advantage to seal the road victory in the Big South, putting them a half game up on Asheville in the standings.
January 29 – MBB @ High Point – L, 77-75
The Bucs looked for late-game heroics again as they found themselves trailing by one with 2:41 to go in the contest. The Bucs had six possessions in the last 2:41, but hit just one shot, and could not maintain a one-point lead on the road for the final minute. Five players, including four of the starting five had double-figures for CSU, led by Jamarco Warren’s 19 points.
