Hopefully everyone had a great time at homecoming, I know we had a great turnout at all of the events surrounding the football game. It was also great to see some of the members of “The Team that Started it All” at the 1985 football reunion.
Her score was enough for fifth-place out of 68 golfers, four shots off the lead, and helped lead the Buccaneer team to a fifth-place team finish. She was tops in the field on par 5 scoring, averaging 4.67 for the tournament, while registering four birdies.

October 18-19 – Women’s Golf – Wendy’s Invitational – T-5th
Amanda D’Ostroph finished fifth overall, leading the Lady Bucs to a fifth-place team finish in their lone home tournament of the fall season. CSU shot 323 in the first round, but improved to 311 in round two to move up to fifth.

October 18 – Women’s Soccer vs. Presbyterian – W, 5-0
Michelle Dennis scored a couple of goals, including one 3 minutes into the game, leading CSU past Presbyterian. Dennis, along with Toni Lashley and Caitlin Wesnesky each score their fifth goals of the season, while Rebecca Holstegge scored in her second-straight game to give her two for the season. The Lady Bucs out-shot PC 35-4 and did not allow a shot on goal all game.

October 19 – Volleyball vs. Winthrop – L, 3-0
It was a busy week for the volleyball team with three Big South matches. The week did not start as CSU had hoped, dropping the first one on the road at Winthrop. The Bucs played the Eagles close when the game was in Charleston, but couldn’t get much going on the road. Amanda Hill had 11 kills, her ninth straight double-digit kill match, while Kayla Klinger had eight kills and 10 digs.

October 22 – Volleyball vs. High Point – L, 3-0
The Panthers came out swinging against CSU, dominating the first set 25-13, and although CSU improved throughout the match, they could not take a set from High Point. The Bucs had just 25 kills on the day with 11 of those from the arms of Amanda Hill. Tricia Rodl had a team-high 17 digs and Cori Holeman had five block assists.

October 22 – Soccer vs. Coastal Carolina – L, 2-1
For the first time this season in Big South play, CSU lost a game, doing so by a 2-1 count to Coastal Carolina. In a physical game, the Bucs held their own, and the game looked like it would come down to a late goal to decide it. CSU thought they had it as Michelle Dennis score her sixth goal of the season, settling a ball in the box and putting it away in the 68th minute. CCU immediately went back on an all-out attack and scored to even the match in the 80th minute, finding the game winner in the 88th minute to hand CSU its first loss of the Big South slate.

October 23 – Football vs. VMI – L, 34-16
Charleston Southern outgained VMI 386-242, but lost their homecoming contest against the Keydets 34-16, Saturday at Buccaneer Field. The loss drops the Bucs to 2-5 (0-3) and marks the first time since 2003 that CSU has lost three home games in a season.
Andrew Trudnowski set new career high in completions (25), attempts (53) and passing yards (326) in his second career start. His 53 pass attempts are the third-most in a single game in school history, while his 25 completions ties for the 10th most in school history. For the second time this year, the Bucs had two receivers top the century mark with Gerald Stevenson leading the way with seven receptions for 129 yards. Deon Lee had six catches for a career-high 112 yards. With three kick returns for touchdowns in the past two games, Stevenson was held without a kick return in the game, while the Bucs combined for five returns for 59 yards. Stevenson did have two punt returns for a total of 15 yards.

October 23 – Volleyball @ Radford, W, 3-0
CSU got back on the winning track with a 3-0 sweep of Radford, Saturday. It was the best hitting performance of the Big South season with 50 kills at a .340 pace. 50 kills was the most for any team in a three-set match this season. Kayla Klinger had a season-high 14 kills with 13 digs, while Amanda Hill had 16 and 12 on the match. Tricia Rodl earned 17 digs for the third match in a row. Amy Nokes dished out 38 assists and added eight digs. Cori Holeman tallied eight kills while Amberle Trinder had six. Emily Libertowski set a season high with four service aces.
